Dear Parent,

We received a directive this morning from Dr. Chadzutko, diocesan superintendent, that all academies and parish schools in our diocese will be closed next week – Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20. Therefore, St. Joseph Catholic Academy will be closed next week. At this time, I have no information about closures beyond next Friday. Please continue to check our website, www.sjcalic.org, on a regular basis for additional information.

On Monday, March 16, the faculty and staff will be at school for a professional day. The teachers will be further developing plans for distance learning should it be necessary to close school beyond next week.

If the early childhood and elementary grade teachers have adequate time to prepare today, your child will be coming home with a letter and/or a packet detailing work that should be completed while classes are not in regular session next week. If your child’s teacher communicates with you in another manner, e.g., through email or the class page on the website, please check there for additional information. Parents of students in Grades 5 through 8 should consult Google Classroom for such details.

Children will be advised to take home books today that they will need in order to complete any work that is assigned. If your child is absent from school today, you may phone Mrs. Sgritto after 8 a.m. on Monday to make arrangements to pick up textbooks before 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16.
Thank you for your attention, understanding, and cooperation with us during what is a trying time for us all. Once again, we extend our prayers and ask for yours as we deal with this health emergency in our city and beyond.

Sincerely,
Luke Nawrocki
Principal
