Dear Parents,

Welcome to St. Joseph Catholic Academy!

At SJCA, we are proud to have a strong and vibrant Home Academy Association (HAA) that brings our parent community together. We want to take a moment to thank our parent volunteers for their incredible support, dedication, and generosity of time and talent. Your contributions make our school events memorable and successful, and we are truly grateful for everything you do.

This year, we have many exciting plans for our students and families, including Parent Night Out, Rodeo Radio Bingo, March Madness, Sip & Paint, and so much more! These events rely on the creativity, energy, and enthusiasm of our parent community, and we would love for you to be involved. These events help us to fundraise and make special programs such as robotics, chorus, dance with the Amy Marshall Dance Company, Stages on the Sound and so many more possible.

Please consider joining our HAA, where you can share your ideas, help build our school community, and contribute your unique talents. Together, we can make this year at SJCA our best one yet!

St. Joseph Home Academy Association is broken into committees: Hospitality Committee, Special Events Committee, Faith in Action Service Committee and Academy Ambassadors Committee. If you are interested in helping out please complete the online volunteers sign up sheet below. You will be contact when events come up. Click the link below for the online submission. If you signed up last year you will need to resign up for this school year.

** Volunteers please note: The diocese requires all parents who help at the school be VIRTUS trained. The VIRTUS workshop is designed to give adults a greater awareness of their role in helping to protect children- keeping them safe from any type of predatory activity. If you are not Virtus trained you need to attend a workshop. Please go to www.virtusonline.org to locate and register for a workshop. Remember to select St. Joseph Catholic Academy as your source so the school gets updated on your training. You will need to be VIRTUS trained in order to participant in any Academy events where children are present.

Please select what committee(s) you will be volunteering for.
- 1. The Hospitality Committee – Will provide greeters as well as refreshments at special events when called upon by the moderators of the HAA to do so. The committee will select a chairperson who will be responsible to keep names and contact information of volunteers to serve as guides/greeters as well as volunteers to provide and serve refreshments as needed. Greeters and refreshments are typically required at orientation programs, Open-House programs, parent workshop evenings, Ring Day, and the annual Fine Arts Festival.
- 2. The Special Events/Activities Committee – Will be responsible for planning and running the special events sponsored by the HAA in conjunction with the administration. The committee will be comprised of the chairpersons of each of the events/activities and be responsible to the HAA moderator(s). Among the annual special events are the following: December gift sale, May plant sale, Spirit Week activities, Home-Baked Goods sales during lunch, and the Eighth Grade Graduation Brunch.
- 3. The Faith in Action Service Committee – Will be responsible for working with homeroom teachers to identify and sponsor grade level, age-appropriate service opportunities for the children. Ideally, the committee should comprise a parent from each grade level to act as liaison with the homeroom teachers.
- 4. The Academy Ambassadors Committee – Will be responsible for outreach to prospective and newly-registered families. Ideally, each new family would be assigned a buddy family that would maintain contact and assist the new families to acclimate to the academy. Other responsibilities are to assist with Academy efforts to market its programs.
