AIS (Academic Intervention Services) plans that identify students with particular needs are developed each year based upon testing performance and teacher input. Students in grades 5-8 receive enrichment and remediation in ELA and mathematics during the school day as a result of a special schedule created to address academic needs. Both ELA and math are scheduled to meet six times in five days. Students in one through eight who are identified as needing assistance in reading and math are assigned to Title I remediation services. Resource Room is available to students who have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) that calls for such services.
Students are deemed eligible for services based on their results on the TERRA NOVA standardized tests administered each year or the New York State Common Core tests in ELA and mathematics that are administered to students in Grades 4, 6, and 7.
